The art on the building at 804 S. Victory is certainly eye-catching! It is perfectly suited for bringing attention to the business inside. Eye Care Optometry was approached by an artist who needed work and thankfully they hired him. Although the artist's name is a mystery, his work is attractive and brings the building to life.

You can find this cast of characters behind Rick Chase Film Studio at 1150 Olive. It is visible from Virginia Ave across the parking lot. This mural still looks fantastic and I was told it has been there since the mid 1980's.
Festive piñata fun catches the eye of passersby while patio diners of El Mexicano can enjoy it with their meal. It is such a charming scene with the colorful treats, wide eyed happy children in traditional clothing, and the mission and mountains in the background. Inside the restaurant the paintings continue with countryside, farm animals, decorative plants, architectural elements, and food.
The Magnolia Park district has many unique little shops and this one is decorated with a second story! There may be other stories on the inside of Encore Nouveau, located at 3322 Magnolia Blvd. at the corner of Lima. The artwork was done by Sara J. Bodwell, painter and muralist.
You can see this bit of wildlife on Burbank Blvd at the corner of Parish. The building is unmarked but I'm guessing it's the Moose Lodge. From what I understand this has been newly repaired after some sort of accident. Even though I don't see his signature, I've been told by mutual friends that local artist, teacher and rising art star, Randall Williams painted and repainted it. I've seen him create a charcoal masterpiece of Jimi Hendrix in less than 30 minutes so I would assume he whipped this out in a couple of hours!
It is fun to drive by this business and have a sneak peak at women enjoying their beauty treatments. These lovely ladies grace the Shampayne Hair Studio at 2216 Burbank Blvd. There is a parking lot to the side of the building where these paintings can be seen.
This collection of paintings are my husband's favorites. He enjoys how professional mural artist, Roger Dolin, expressively portrays coffee drinkers in three different time periods. These murals are located on the walls of the Starbucks drive thru on Walnut St. near San Fernando, across from the IHOP parking lot. This painting is very close to my home, and my heart as it contains two of my favorite things; a big tree and mountains in the distance. It can be found just off Magnolia Blvd. on Niagara St. on the side of the building where NorthStar Ballroom Dance Studio is located.
Ann of Magnolia was the business that was there when I first noticed this mural several years ago and that is the name I think of when I see the Magnolia tree. It is my informal title of the piece. I did not find a signature of the artist, so thank you unknown painter for this peaceful and majestic scene. I'm so glad it has remained through the change of businesses. Inside the Community Services Building, 150 North Third St. more incredible work by artist, Wayne Healy and the East Los Streetscapers. It is an uplifting view of the community! Suspended from the ceiling are 15 sculptural paintings made from gatorboard covered in fabric and painted with acrylics. The murals were painted on fabric in the studio and then mounted on the walls. The artworks are much more beautiful in person than these camera phone photos are able to convey.
